Connect SONOFF ZigBee Devices to Alexa Echo 4


It’s easier and easier to keep an eye out for your home and control your home appliances remotely. The rapid development of smart home technology expands homeowners’ options to select smart home devices and connect them with one another. From Wi-Fi smart devices that can work alone with your home appliances to ZigBee smart devices that require a hub or bridge to connect more smart devices of your home, smart home hubs work as a central networking device that is used to transmit the signal to each port to respond from which the signal was received, to establish a connection between devices.

While Amazon Alexa devices like Amazon Echo Plus and Echo 4 are ZigBee-certified and can directly work together with your ZigBee devices, which means that SONOFF ZigBee devices can work seamlessly and smoothly with Echo 4.

 

This guide will walk you through the following roadmap:

SONOFF ZigBee devices that you will need to use are shown as below:

Step 1. How to set up Echo 4?

  1. Plug in your Echo 4. Launch the Alexa app on your phone or tablet. Go to “More” in the bottom right and select “Add a Device”. Select “Amazon Echo” and then ”Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus and more.” Tap “YES” and wait until your Echo 4 is discovered. Then you will see your Echo 4 appears in “AVAILABLE DEVICES”, just select it.

 

  1. Wait it to connect your Wi-Fi network. Select your Wi-Fi network, enter the SSID and password, then go to “CONNECT” in the bottom. Wait until your Echo 4 is connected successfully.

 

  1. Follow the instructions to proceed to the rest of setup.

 

Steo 2. How to add SONOFF ZigBee devices to your Amazon Echo Plus and Echo 4

  1. Put SONOFF ZigBee devices into the pairing mode (Here SNZB-02, SNZB-03, ZBMIN and BASICZBR3 are used as examples to connect). The following step will use SNZB-02 as an example to add.

You can refer to the user manual for the detailed pairing method.

  1. Launch the Alexa app on your phone or tablet. Go to “More” in the bottom right and select “Skills & Games”. Search “eWeLink Smart Home” in “Your Skills” and enable it. Then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the linking process.

 

  1. Say “Discover my devices” to your Echo 4 to discover these SONOFF ZigBee devices, or you can select tap “+” top right corner of in “Devices” section of Alexa app to manually add these ZigBee devices. After adding successfully, go back to the home page and fresh, then you will see a notification that 1 temperature sensor discovered.

 

*The above instructions are also available for adding SNZB-03, ZBMIN and BASICZBR3 in Alexa app.

 

Step 3. How to create a smart scene to make SONOFF ZigBee device trigger smart devices?

2 smart scenes setup are shown as below:

Scene 1: SNZB-04 triggers the light connected to BASICZBR3 to turn and off.

When SNZB-04 is opened, the light turns on.

  1. Launch Alexa app and go to Routines, tap “Create Routine”. Name this Routine. Select + icon to create a routine. Name the routine, go to “When this happens”, select “Smart Home” and then SNZB-04.

  1. Then select “Open” as the trigger condition and tap next. Go on add select “Add action”, and Smart Home, proceed to “Lights” and select “First light”, enable “On” and “Next”.

 

  1. Tap “Save” and done.

 

When SNZB-04 is closed, the light turns off.

Follow the above steps for “When SNZB-04 is opened, the light turns on, the light turns on” to set up this scene.

 

Scene 2: SNZB-03 triggers the light connected to ZBMINI to turn and off.

When SNZB-03 detects the movement, the light turns on.

  1. Launch Alexa app and go to “Routines”, tap “Create Routine”. Name this Routine. Select + icon to create a routine. Name the routine, go to “When this happens”, select “Smart Home” and then SNZB-03.

  1. Then select “Detected” as the trigger condition and tap next. Go on to add select “Add action”, and Smart Home, proceed to “Lights” and select “First light”, enable “On” and “Next”.

 

  1. Then the scene has been created successfully.

 

When no movement is detected by SNZB-03, the light turns off.

  1. Go to tap “+” icon on the top right corner in “ROUTINES” page. Name this Routine. Select + icon to create a routine. Name the routine, go to “When this happens”, select “Smart Home” and then Then select “Not Detected” as the trigger condition, simultaneously set a schedule for it to make SNZB-03 to trigger the light off after the preset time, then tap next.

 

  1. Go on add select “Add action”, and Smart Home, proceed to “Lights” and select “First light”, enable “Off” and “Next”, then the scene has been created successfully.
